The Holy Stone Drone F181 is a another great beginner drone that has some pretty cool features for only being $110 on Amazon. The Holy Stone Drone F181 is a six gyro quadcopter that has an HD camera (720p), 3D flip feature, One-Key Return, Headless Mode, fun LEDs and a lot more cool features. Not bad right? Let’s dive into this review.
The Holy Stone Drone F181 is quite nice for a beginner who is looking to dable into a drone with more of the features you would expect: HD Camera, Headless Mode, etc. Comparably to the Holy Stone Drone HS170, this drone contains a a camera in which the other does not. Another feature I noticed with the F181 that the HS170 does not have is that the body is completely enclosed. I like this because on the HS170, the cable to the internal battery was completely exposed which could pose a problem should you accidentally get your drone stuck in a tree.
You wont have that issue with the F181 because the battery and all it’s cables are enclosed within the drone itself and require that you slide the compartment door open in order to get the battery out for charging.
Check out this video I found on Youtube. Please ignore the cheesy beginning… lol this guy does a good job explaining the features though!

Battery and Flight Time
So I’ll be straight with you. Battery time on this drone is about 20 minutes or so of straight flight time. After reading what others thought, this seems to definitely be a confirmed pattern across the board when it comes to this drone. However, though I haven’t had this issue it appears that many are having good success with the customer support team from Holy Stone. I even read from one lady that her drone burnt out after 2 flights. When she called customer support, they literally apologized and sent her a new drone! So cool!
The controller on the F181 is quite solid. The connection between the drone and the controller is not the best but if you set the power setting to 50% or 75% you shouldn’t find yourself missing a drone in your neighbors yard on accident. Once again, keep in mind that for $100, this drone is really just a practice and play toy and doesn’t truly offer all the latest technology to keep you sane during flight and recording. lol sorry.
In all honesty, I was a little disappointed in the Holy Stone F181. I feel that for $50 more your only getting a camera with 720p attached to the bottom of this drone which shouldn’t cost this much… I mean, come on, its only 720p! 😛
Anyways, I would have to throw this drone in the beginner category along with the last two. The price is definitely affordable for any drone noobs to bang this thing up and still be able to sleep at night. But on another note, I feel like as I continue my journey of reviewing drones on Amazon, I am certain we will find the perfect beginner drone to purchase! Stay tuned 🙂
